Who is responsible

Yesim Torun, a sole practitioner translator and interpreter based in Enfield, London, decides how the information on this site is used and is responsible for protecting it.

  • Email: turkishtranslationuk@gmail.com
  • Telephone and WhatsApp: 07949 271 850
  • Website: turkishtranslation.co.uk

Yesim is DPSI Law-qualified and registered with the National Register of Public Service Interpreters, registration 17525. That registration carries a professional code of conduct requiring confidentiality over everything she is given.

What is collected

What you type into the quote form

Your name, email address, telephone number, the kind of document you need translated, whether you are writing in English or Turkish, how you would like Yesim to reply, and anything you write in the message box.

The document you attach

If you upload a file, Yesim receives the document itself. This is the most sensitive thing on the page and is treated as such — see the next section.

How you reached the site

The page you arrived on, the website or search that sent you, and — if you clicked a Google advert — the identifier Google attaches to that click, so the enquiry can be matched to the advert.

Tapping the WhatsApp, telephone or email buttons is recorded as an action, without recording who tapped it. If you then message or call, that conversation is held in WhatsApp, your phone network or email in the ordinary way, under those providers' own terms.

Documents you upload

Documents sent for translation regularly contain information that UK data protection law treats as needing extra protection — criminal record certificates, court judgments, medical letters, immigration papers, and records revealing family circumstances or religious details.

Where that applies, the document is handled on the basis that you have deliberately sent it in order to obtain a translation of it, and for no other purpose. It is used to quote for the work, to carry out the translation, and to keep the record a certified translation requires. It is never shared for marketing, training or analysis of any kind.

Your documents are read only by Yesim.

They are not passed to an agency, a subcontractor or a machine-translation service. If you would rather discuss a document before sending it, call or message first — you are never obliged to upload anything to get a price.

The legal basis for each use

To quote and to do the work

Taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and then performing that contract. Without your details and your document there is no way to price or produce a translation.

To keep records

A legal obligation. Certified translations and business records must be retained, and tax law sets its own minimum periods.

To measure the website and adverts

A legitimate interest in understanding which adverts and pages bring genuine enquiries, so money is not spent on the wrong ones. Nothing about your enquiry depends on it, and the Cookie Policy explains how to stop it.

Who else is involved

  • Netlify — hosts this website and receives what you submit through the quote form, including any attached document, before it reaches Yesim.
  • Google — provides the measurement and advertising tools described in the Cookie Policy, and the email account Yesim uses to correspond with you.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — if you choose to message rather than email, the conversation is held in WhatsApp.

Some of these companies are based outside the United Kingdom, so information may be handled abroad. Where that happens, transfers are made on the safeguards those providers publish — the UK's international data transfer agreement or equivalent approved terms.

Your details are never sold, rented or passed to anyone for marketing.

How long it is kept

  • Enquiries that do not become work — up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Documents and translations for completed work — 6 years, the period UK tax and business record-keeping requires, and the period over which a client may need a replacement certified copy.
  • Website measurement — as set out in the Cookie Policy.

If you would prefer your document deleted sooner, ask. Where no legal obligation requires it to be kept, it will be removed.

Your rights

All of these are free of charge:

  • A copy — ask what is held about you and receive a copy of it.
  • A correction — have anything inaccurate put right.
  • Deletion — have information removed where nothing legally requires it to be kept.
  • To object or restrict — object to a particular use, or ask that it be paused while a concern is resolved.
  • Portability — receive what you provided in a form you can take elsewhere.

Email turkishtranslationuk@gmail.com and you will receive a reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how a request was handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. Raising it with Yesim first is welcome but not required.

Security

  • The whole site is served over an encrypted connection, so what you submit cannot be read in transit.
  • Documents are held on password-protected, access-controlled accounts belonging to Yesim alone.
  • No third party has routine access to client documents. There is no shared inbox and no administrative team.

No website can promise perfect security. What can be promised is that only one person handles your file, and that she is professionally bound to keep it confidential.

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is used, the date at the top changes with it.
